We have this odd sized closet in the hallway. It’s to far off the floor to be a utility closet and there are no shelves so not a linen closet.
When we moved in we removed the door and never did anything to the nook that was left. It became a catch all of change and my jewelry. For a long time I thought it would be nice to build shelves to finish off the hallway look. Here is my work in progress…
I still have to add trim to hide the furring strips and quarter round on the bottom shelf and it will be done! I know you can’t wait to see the whole thing.
From time to time I get bored… this is the time the hubs might want to run away and hide. I was looking at our guest room and kinda sick of it. The blue was never the right blue. Still love the chocolate brown, but needed a change. I had originally bought new grey quilt for our master with a West Elm gift card (Thanks Matt & Carol). I love it, but got to thinking “this might be the right change that the guest room needs”. I also had the white curtains laying around.
Take a look at the before:
Now the After:
(the armoire is going to go, it’s on its last leg)
So there we go a pretty much free redo! I like how much lighter it looks and open!
This past weekend I was able to shoot a birthday party for Max & Cece!! Max was turning 4 and Cece was turning 1. It was a great day for hanging out in the moon bounce and slipNslide!
Here are a few of the shots. You can see more here
Ok, so I’ve said this before but photography is a hobby of mine. I don’t claim to know much about it, but I enjoy learning and shooting! Recently Jeff Borisen (a good family friend of the hubs) contacted to me be his assistant / be a 2nd shooter at a up coming wedding. I was FREAKED out , wasn’t sure if I was up to snuff with him. But after meeting a few times I was reassured this would be fun and a great learning experience for me. And damm he knows his stuff (cough BRIDES out there COUGH)! Like I said I still have lots to learn but after 8 hours of shooting I gained so MUCH!

Here are some of my favorite shots of the day and can’t wait to see what Jeff did!
Meet Jenny & Alex: They were so cute and fun to work with!
Thanks again Jeff 🙂
Remember way back when, I started the EASY basement bathroom reno? Yeah me either 🙂
Any who we hit a few road bumps and I had to bring in a plumber to help finish the job. So much for an easy quick project. After taking a look at the plumbing he was shock that there were no shut offs either. A few hours of him banging around the old sink was out and I was able to install the new floor. Which would have been easy if the floor was square. Cutting peel and stick tile out around pipes and the toilet was not fun! He came back a few days later to put the new sink in, again not as easy as I thought it would be. Here is a peek back at the old bathroom.
Are you ready for this…?
It looks sooooo much better, yes it turned out to be a pain in the ass but some projects are just like that. Here is a side by side look.
Well I did it… well not all of it, but most of it. One second I was just weeding and doing normal yard work, and the next I was chopping down the large pricker bushes. I didn’t do as much as I originally planned on doing, but I’m very happy with the outcome!
DAY 1 ( rip em out)
I wanted to transplant all the pachysandra to the side of the house but it was just to hard to dig it all up. So I ripped it out, I know, I know lame. I’m paying for it though, my arms are killing me!
I bought 5 new bushes to plant as well. They are tiny right now but next summer they will look great. Girls on a budget but at 6 bucks a pop not to shabby. Here is what they will look like one day
I messed around a bit more with photoshop last night. What do you all think? YAY or NAY??
