Details… Shmetails…

I think I’m falling in love with this room It’s not like any room I’ve ever put together. And can I say I’m even shocked on how girly it’s looking and I don’t hate it!! This weekend I wanted to start hanging a few items I’ve had tucked away. A mirror I bought MONTHS ago, curtains, and wall shelves. We only got the curtains up and mirror, which is fine by me (trying to take my time).

Funny story about the mirror, I saw something like it on one of my favorite blogs younghouselove awhile back. After my 1st doctors appointment (8weeks along) I hit up the homegoods right down the road. While wondering around I saw a mirror very similar to the one Sherry and John used in their nursery.  I thought “well if we have a girl this would be super cute over the crib”. Glad that all worked out 😉

I also bought crib bedding, I’ll be honest I’m sure I spent to much for it but I LOVE IT!! It came in a cute bedding bag which got me thinking. I could use it and make a pillow for the rocking chair. And wah-la PILLOW.

The curtains were from Ikea, just like all the curtains in our house. So easy to put up and hem. My kinda project!

The Nook

We have this odd sized closet in the hallway. It’s to far off the floor to be a utility closet and there are no shelves so not a linen closet.

When we moved in we removed the door and never did anything to the nook that was left. It became a catch all of change and my jewelry. For a long time I thought it would be nice to build shelves to finish off the hallway look.  Here is my work in progress…

I still have to add trim to hide the furring strips and quarter round on the bottom shelf and it will be done! I know you can’t wait to see the whole thing.

Guest Room Update

From time to time I get bored… this is the  time the hubs might want to run away and hide. I was looking at our guest room and kinda sick of it. The blue was never the right blue. Still love the chocolate brown, but needed a change. I had originally bought new grey quilt for our master with a West Elm gift card (Thanks Matt & Carol). I love it, but got to thinking “this might be the right change that the guest room needs”. I also had the white curtains laying around.

Take a look at the before:

Now the After:

(the armoire is going to go, it’s on its last leg)

So there we go a pretty much free redo! I like how much lighter it looks and open!

S#@t Or Get Off The Pot

Remember way back when, I started the EASY basement bathroom reno? Yeah me either 🙂

Any who we hit a few road bumps and I had to bring in a plumber to help finish the job. So much for an easy quick project. After taking a look at the plumbing he was shock that there were no shut offs either.  A few hours of him banging around the old sink was out and I was able to install the new floor. Which would have been easy if the floor was square. Cutting peel and stick tile out around pipes and the toilet was not fun! He came back a few days later to put the new sink in, again not as easy as I thought it would be. Here is a peek back at the old bathroom.

Are you ready for this…?

It looks sooooo much better, yes it turned out to be a pain in the ass but some projects are just like that. Here is a side by side look.

YAY!! 🙂

Spring Clean Up

With it being spring and all, I LOVE working in the yard! So far I’ve just been cleaning up this winters mess.  Take a looksy to what I’ve been up too.

I have a few ideas up my sleeves too, here is what I’m thinking about…

Take a peek above to see what it looks like now. I want to take out the two big pickery bushes on either sides of the windows. They are to big and a pain in the butt to trim up. I’d also like to paint the siding on the peak of the house a light grey, to jazz the house up.  This might just be a memorial day project! 🙂

R.I.P

As in ripping out the weeds…

Take a look at our backyard a few years back (sorry crappy picture). This was taken the day we closed on the house. It was also one of the 1st things that had to go. I grew up with an apple tree and know how high maintenance they can be.

Once the tree was gone I went around and ripped pretty much everything else out. The pervious owner once had what I can only imagine was once a beautiful garden. By the time we bought the house it was so over grown and just ugly, it all had to go bye bye.

I’ve spent the past two summers ripping out flower beds and planting grass. This is what we had last summer.

Notice the Bush like thing in the back right of these pictures??

It never really bugged me, it helped block the view of the apartment buildings  (YUCK). But by the end of last summer they were so over grown and heavy looking they had to go. Last weekend I let the ripping start, OUT they came!  Now keep in mind its just the beginning of Spring here so nothing has bloomed.

Btw check out the new patio set! and the rest of the yard so far!

I would like to plant some cheap but tall tree/ bushes along the fence but thats down the road…

isn’t photoshop fun 🙂
