I’ve been wanting a credenza for behind the dining room table for awhile now. I’ve had my eye on this one at West Elm that matches our dinning table
The price is the issue, at 599 plus shipping brings the grand total to over 800 bucks and I just cant bring myself to do that. If it ever goes on sale or they have free shipping it will be MINE! I started searching for something similar and came across this one at IKEA. I however never got to see it in person. Meet the Bjursta Sideboard: At 249 she was a steal.
So fast-forward a few weeks later the Hubs was out on his normal flea market/ salvation army Saturday adventure. When I got a text message, that they had the Bjursta Sideboard and get this for 1/2 the price. I asked “what was wrong with it, did it smell, was it broken”?? He said “just a few chips and the backing was coming off other then that good condition”. Few hours later he came home with it. 1st off I was very excited on this find and then I saw how short it was. hmmmm not really what I was thinking but for the price and the fact WE DIDN’T HAVE TO PUT IT TOGETHER, I was sold. I have plans in my head of going to IKEA and looking to see if I can buy some taller legs but for now it’ll do.
Here is the Hubs nailing the backing back on and I took a sharpie to the few dings good as new!
Boooooo I ran out of time this fall on my dresser redo! We were able to get it sanded and ready to go. I had a great goal to spray it all and have it ready for my house guests over thanksgiving. WRONG it got way to cold! So it will sit in the garage till next spring 😦
Tonight the hubs and I started the dresser redoing… Here are some better before shots
You can see all the dings and scratches all over the top. I wanted to just sand it down, but after research it said I should strip it 1st. Well that and the hubs told me as well, but whatevs. We started the process by spraying the dresser down with thiner and waited 15 LONG minutes. I’m not a very patient person.
I was shocked how well it worked, took off most of the clear coat. You really can see a big difference in the pictures below. Next step will be the legs and drawers. After that let the sanding begin! And a big thanks to miko for his help xo
A few weeks back the hubs came across a $19.00 dresser at the salvation army. He sent me a text pix of it and we both thought it would be perfect for the guest room! Its all wood, mid century modern. It however has seen better days, pretty banged up. Over the next week or so my goal its to sand it down and clean it up. Right now i’m thinking we will spray it black. But if the wood looks ok after sanding we might try and re-stain it a nice dark color. I’d also like to buy some new pulls for it.
sorry for the crappy cell phone pix, here is how she looked at the store.
